Cinema: It Was Just an Accident

Jafar Panahi
  • 18:00

This year’s Palme d’Or winner It Was just an Accident by Jafar Panahi follows a former prisoner who kidnaps the man he believes ruined his life – setting off an uncontrollable chain of events.

At the heart of the film lies the question: If you stood before the man who destroyed your life – and the lives of many others – what would you do? This is Panahi’s first film after serving a prison sentence in Iran, and it is yet another powerful masterpiece. A dark satire about morality, abuse of power, and repressed memories.
