New Morning in the Old World + Uncertain States Scandinavia
Christian Belgaux, Uncertain States Scandinavia"New Morning in the Old World" is a result of tens of field trips throughout more than 20 countries, and examines a volatile decade of transition in Europe. Belgaux looks at how the presence of history shadows the turbulence of the present, resulting in democratic backsliding and war. The history is always present in Europe: Myths, trauma, humanism, genocide, revolution, enlightenment, colonialism and democracy layers the continent’s past. This landscape appears dramatically different to each of us, and in the gap between these perceptions lies the future of Europe.
Uncertain States Scandinavia presents a curated selection of artists who engage in dialogue with Christian Belgaux's Europe-themed work in the Project Space, including work by Terje Abusdal, Christian Belgaux, Bjørn Henrik Lybeck, Ingmar Björn Nolting, Amanda Iversen Orlich, Maria Di Stefano, Jon Wang and Ada Zielinska. Issue 25 of their paper: "EUROPA" will be distributed for free throughout the exhibition period.
